After researching what house fires look like in real life i found it a lot easier to create the effect in after effects as i know what outcome i want to achieve.
I used a number of effects on top of my source material to create a realistic looking fire. I used a adjustment layer with a mask on at the top to change the colour of the smoke in the sky. I had to add fire and smoke together to create the end effect. On my fire i added a few effects such as screen and colour correction effects to give it a better look.
